How to use and install snow chains

Information about snow chains
Snow chains or tire chains are devices installed on vehicle tires that increase traction when driving through snow and ice.Picture 1 Simpler snow chains

Snow chains are attached to the vehicle's drive wheels and are usually sold in sets of two. Although snow chains are named after a steel chain, they can be made of other materials and come in a variety of patterns and strengths.
Chains are usually sold in pairs and often have to be purchased to match a specific tire size (tire diameter and tread width). Some of the simpler chains (Image 1) are universal and can be adapted for different tire sizes.

Driving with chains reduces fuel economy and may reduce the car's permitted speed by about 50 km/h, but increases traction and braking on snowy or icy surfaces.
Some countries require the use of chains in certain weather conditions, but in other areas the use of chains is prohibited because they can damage road surfaces.
