calibration: the device is calibrated to measure at 20ºc.
measurements can be made between 10ºc and +30ºc, but calibration of the measuring instrument is necessary if the measuring temperature differs by 20ºc.
for calibration, take a pipette of distilled water, place a drop on the prism (1) and lower the instrument cover (2).
adjust the calibration screw (3) using the supplied screwdriver until the light/shadow line coincides with the waterline.
measurement process:
1- point the instrument towards a bright light and turn the eyepiece (5) to focus.
2- use a small amount of measured liquid using the supplied pipettes and drop one or two drops onto the prism (1),
lower the cover (2) and press lightly.
3 - A light/shadow line will appear on the scale to indicate the freezing point or density depending on the liquid used.
4 - after taking the reading, clean the prism thoroughly with the cotton cloth provided.
attention!
calibration and measurements should be performed at the same temperature.
if the temperature changes rapidly, it should be checked every 30 minutes.
after measurement, do not clean the prism with water, as this may flood the internal optics of the device.
handle the instrument with care.
avoid scratches on the prism.
store in a dry place to prevent fogging of the optics.
avoid shocks during transport.
be extra careful when measuring the density of electrolytes.
battery acid is a corrosive substance.
always use pipettes and do not allow acid to come into contact with eyes or skin!
