alloy wheels are made of an alloy of light metals, namely aluminum, magnesium or both. alloy wheels offer performance advantages over steel wheels ( tin wheels ) as they are often several kilos per rim lighter than tin wheels - less weight means quicker acceleration and stopping. the lower weight of the alloy wheels also means a lower load on the suspension components.
alloy wheels also give the car a nicer exterior than tin wheels. In the production of tin rims, the most common material is an alloy of iron and carbon.
