Centering rings
the centering ring of the wheel, or matching ring, is a plastic ring that is installed between the car's wheel hub and the rim. the purpose of the centering ring is to perfectly center the alloy wheel with the wheel hub and thus prevent the vibration and shaking of the steering wheel during driving, which usually occurs at speeds of 60-100 km/h.
what is the matching ring needed for?
matching rings are needed when the rim's hub hole (central diameter) is larger than the car's wheel hub. rim manufacturers deliberately make the hub ring as large as possible for the rim, taking into account the hub hole, to allow the same rims to be sold to different car models using hub-centric rings.
matching rings are usually only required for aftermarket rims, as original rims usually have the correct size center diameter. hub center rings are usually used with alloy rims, but sometimes tin rims may also require matching rings.
