the meters use an innovative design of the measuring probe, which allows point measurements to be made on ferromagnetic and non-magnetic materials (depending on the version), automatically identifying the tested material and providing information about the type of material on the screen. the survey is completed in a so-called ball.

A special feature of gl-pro-smart-faz meters is the automatic recognition of whether the ferromagnetic sheet is covered with a zinc layer or not. this is very important when measuring on the car - it becomes clear which body elements were replaced by cheaper, non-galvanized ones. the survey is completely developed by us.

the meter has a calibration function using thickness standards (included in the kit).




gl-smart app
The gl-smart app, developed for Android and iOS, allows you to connect the smart series to a color meter. depending on the meter model, we get a number of new functions that are not available for normal meters. The app currently runs on Android version 6 or higher and iOS version 14.1 or higher. App updates provided by the manufacturer are free. the advantage of the application is that it is constantly being improved and expanded. gl-smart app can be downloaded from google play store and app store.

gl-smart is intuitive to use. after launch, the main desktop will appear, allowing you to choose one of the following options:

basic measurement
after selecting this function, a list of detected meters is displayed - select one of them. the application enters measurement mode in the "main view". when switching to the "extended view", additional functions appear: a table with a list of measurements, a diagram of measurements and the option to save measurements in the measurement catalog. To perform a measurement, you black also go to the measurement function meter in the meter menu. after installing the meter on the body, the measurement result is displayed on the LCD screen of the meter and in the gl-smart application.

professional measurement
it allows the measurement to be divided into individual body elements. the graphics are displayed divided into individual fragments by car projection. after selecting a given fragment, the view shown in the left photo will appear. we perform the measurement in the same way as described in the "basic measurement" function.

in the professional mode, it is possible to save the measurements in the form of a report. with the meter version in gl-smart, it is possible to take 24 photos for each measured vehicle. to do this, click on the camera icon in the upper right corner of the application. the photos are saved in the catalog together with the dimensions of the given car. photos are saved separately for each tested car.

catalog of measurements
it contains saved measurements divided into professional (icons with a dark blue border) and basic (icons with a green border). by selecting a given measurement file, we can edit data such as make, engine, model, mileage, meter data, conclusions, etc. in addition, the professional measurement file has the function of exporting the data to a pdf file in the form of a report.

measurement assistant® function
the function informs the appraiser of the car whether it has undergone bodywork or paintwork.

when taking measurements, the meter gives a signal with a graphic bar and inscriptions:

green stripe - correct varnish;
yellow stripe - second coat of varnish;
red strip - putty.
it should be noted that the measurement assistant® function is only intended as an aid in the interpretation of measurements, it cannot be the basis for a clear answer to the question of whether the car has undergone bodywork or color corrections. however, many car reviewers don't really know what a given paint thickness means, so the above feature is helpful.







detection of zinc from steel sheet
paint thickness gauges gl-pro-smart-faz have a function that facilitates the detection of the zinc layer on steel sheets. this is a useful feature, especially if you are looking for a used car. quite often, the entire body element, e.g. fender, is replaced on cars after collisions on the road. if such an element is new and artistically painted, it is difficult to verify whether it is original or replacement by measuring the thickness of the paint alone - the readings may indicate that the element is factory original. equivalent body elements produced by different companies are often not covered with a zinc layer. of course, to distinguish such an element, the rest of the car black be made of galvanized steel, which the meter detects (fezn reading). for example, if we get a zinc indicator on one fender and not on the other, that could mean the element has been replaced.

when measuring on galvanized steel that the meter can detect, fezn information will be displayed on the screen, and fe information will be displayed on the screen when measuring on non-galvanized steel.

the zinc layer black be continuous and properly prepared. the meter may not detect a defective, cracked or broken zinc layer. such a layer usually does not fulfill its anti-corrosion role.

holding function
function allows you to measure and stop it. function hold can be disabled from the menu level.

The meters have two holding function modes:

hold 1 - pauses the measurement on the screen until the probe moves away from the surface;
hold 2 - pauses the measurement until the next measurement.
if the hold function is turned off, the meter performs a continuous measurement.

sound signal
this is especially useful when the measure-hold function is turned on. after the measurement, the meter informs us of this fact with a short beep. the sound signal can be turned off at the menu level.
