wheel balancers are used to balance tires on rims. an unbalanced tire can start to vibrate and degrade the ride quality and shorten the life of your tires, bearings, shocks and other suspension components. balanced tires help save fuel, save tire life and improve safety and comfort.
There are two types of wheel balancers.
clip-on rim weights that are hit on the inside of the rim with a hammer. their advantage is that they are faster to attach/remove.
the adhesive wheel balancer can be securely applied to both the inside and outside of the wheel without leaving scratches/stains. their main disadvantages are that their installation is more time-consuming, because cleaning the rim is necessary before installation.
wheel balancing weights are usually made of zinc and coated with epoxy powder or may be made of steel or lead. automotive adhesive balances are usually made of zinc.
