difference between magnetic and electronic varnish gauge
meters, magnetic varnish testers are solutions based on the principle of magnetic force, which attract a magnet (in this case neodymium) to steel. the thicker the lacquer layer on the steel, the lower the tensile strength.

it should be noted that these solutions are not as accurate as electronic paint thickness gauges, but their accuracy is sufficient to assess the condition of the paint on the car body quite accurately. after just a few attempts, the average user learns to practice the measurement.

you can easily read:
– original varnish – green area
– second coat of varnish – yellow area
– putty or thick varnish – red area.

measurement assistant® is only an aid in the interpretation of measurements, it cannot be the basis for an unequivocal answer to the question of whether the car has undergone bodywork and paint repair. however, many car appraisers don't really know what a given paint thickness means, so the above feature is helpful in that regard.
